How to register for the inburgering exams and the Staatsexamen NT2
Three places to register: Mijn Inburgering for A2 and KNM, MijnDUO for the Staatsexamen NT2, the municipality for MAP and the participation statement. Step by step — dates, payment, changing a date, and what to bring on the day.

Booking is where many candidates lose weeks. DUO warns that it may take more than six weeks before you can sit an exam, so register well before you feel ready (inburgeren.nl). Which exams you book depends on your Act and route — see the three routes — and Mijn Inburgering lists them.
| Exam | Where you register | How |
|---|---|---|
| KNM, ONA (2013 Act), A2 language exams | Mijn Inburgering | log in with DigiD, choose date and location |
| B1/B2 language exams — Staatsexamen NT2 | MijnDUO | about 8 weeks ahead, from the day in the exam timetable |
| MAP and the participation statement (PVT) | your municipality | as agreed in your PIP |
A2 exams and KNM: Mijn Inburgering
- Log in to Mijn Inburgering with DigiD. If you cannot log in, DUO has a paper form, Aanmelding inburgeringsexamen.
- Choose the exam, the date and the location: Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rijswijk, Rotterdam, Utrecht or Zwolle (open Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:30).
- Pay €50 per exam — unless you are an asylum status holder with free attempts left (costs).
- You get a confirmation by email and by letter.
- Change the date or location in Mijn Inburgering up to 1 week before; cancel up to 1 week before and you get a refund.
Staatsexamen NT2 (B1 and B2): MijnDUO
- Check the exam timetable on staatsexamensnt2.nl: it shows the day registration opens, about 8 weeks before each exam, at 9:00 or 10:00.
- Log in to MijnDUO with DigiD on that day — no DigiD? There is a route without it (register).
- Choose the city and the week, then a time with free places. Full? Try another city.
- You may book several parts at once, but not a part you are already booked for or still waiting for a result on.
- Pay €50 per part by iDEAL, or ask for an invoice up to 3 weeks before. If you must integrate, choose your DUO loan or a free attempt while registering (pay).
- DUO sends a call letter (oproepbrief) by email and post: where to be and when. Arrive half an hour early.
Set an alarm for the opening day. NT2 places in the big cities go quickly. Have DigiD working and your payment ready before registration opens at 9:00 or 10:00.
On the day
- Come alone — others wait outside.
- Bring a valid ID: a passport, an ID card, a Dutch driving licence, a Dutch residence document, a travel document for refugees or foreigners, among others. No valid ID, no exam (rules).
- For the NT2, bring the call letter too, and — for reading and writing — your own Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek NT2 if you want to use it.
- You sign a confidentiality form: no photos, no copies, no telling others about the questions.
- All digital devices are forbidden during the NT2 exam (Staatsexamens NT2 news, August 2026).
After the exam
KNM and A2: the result comes by letter within 8 weeks, and appears in Mijn Inburgering (results). NT2: results are in Mijn DUO from 15:00 on the date in the timetable, and come by email and post; you can re-register for a failed part once you have the result. When all four NT2 parts are passed, the diploma comes by registered mail (NT2 results).
